Dr. Stuart Dorsey was sworn in at Texas Lutheran University today, accompanied by choral anthems and band fanfares.
He has served at Baker at Evansville, and most recently at Redlands College. The event was held at Jackson Auditorium with the new freshman dorm going up right next door.
Campus Pastor Greg Ronning and Assistant to the Bishop Stan Meyer led the charge.
Congressman Hinajosa brought greetings.
Nathan Gigee, son of pastor Brian Gigee (New Life, Pearland) gave the greeting.
In his address the new president said, “We are committed to an aggressive course of action… Our strategic plan calls for an increase to 2,000 students. The new freshman campus is rising as we speak, with an athletic center and fine arts building to follow. We completed a curriculum revision and the addition of an aviation degree. We launched new web page.”
Dorsey said we have challenges ahead, but he is confident that we will move forward. “The sky is not falling. 20 years ago Peter Drucker predicted the demise of the private liberal arts college. Look, we are still here.”
