LA situation:

We’re better prepared than we were before.
Tropical storm force winds starting at midnight tonight.
No flights in or out of New Orleans or Baton Rouge tomorrow. Classes at Tulane and LSU canceled.
Seventh anniversary of Katrina on Wednesday.
4100 National Guard troops activated.
23 parishes (counties) have declared states of emergency.
Mandatory evacuations in St. Charles Parish, Jefferson Parish (9,000) and Plaquemines parish.
Gov. Bobby Jindal will skip his presentation this week at the Republican national convention in Tampa. He also canceled his 2008 appearance at the RNC because of hurricane Gustav.
Widespread power outages are a 100% certainty according to St. Charles Parish emergency operation center. No mandatory evacuations of New Orleans.
78% of golf oil production has been halted and evacuated.
