Another word from Carl Hilt (Galilean LaPlace): Just been in LaPlace this morning to check our house and I10 is still closed as is I55 south of Hammond … just flooded up there over night. Airline Hwy. (61) is open from I10 between Baton Rouge and LaPlace…to LaPlace. Right now Airline is closed at N orco due to flooding. At this point we can’t get to the church property…maybe by the weeke nd the water will recede enough to get access to it. It is hard to determine how much water the church took on until we can get there…from the surrounding reports, it could be anywhere from 2 to 5 foot. The news media photos are really depressing. I’ll check late tomorrow or Saturday and advise you what the road situations looks like.
