Monday, May 12
Depart Dulles before noon on an Ethiopian Airlines direct flight Boeing to Addis Ababa.
Tuesday, May 13
Arrive in Addis Ababa early in the morning. Check into Harmony Hotel near the aiport. The afternoon is open to explore Addis, the capital. (Kaleb Hotel)

Thursday, May 15
We will fly to Axum on a morning flight where we will travel tot he field to visit communities in the Seglamen area with our largest implementing partner, relief Society of Tigray (REST). After returning to Axum we will tour some historic sites, including ancient obelisks, Chapel of the Ark of the Covenant and the Church of St. Mary of Zion. (Yeha Hotel)
Friday, May 16
Most of the day will be spent in the field with our implementing partner, REST, visiting communities, both that have completed projects and those that are in need of clean water. Returning to Axum we will have time in the market area. (Sabean International Hotel)
Saturday, May 17
We will fly to Addis Ababa early in the morning. In the afternoon, we will head to the field to visit water projects near Addis with our partner, Oromia Development Association (ODA). We will visit and meet the communities with completed projects in Mendida area, was well as some under construction. We will return to Addis for the evening. (Kaleb Hotel)
Sunday, May 18
On Sunday we will worship at the oldest and largest Makane Yesus congregation in Addis Ababa and then drive west to Ambo, west of Addis. Ambo produces a fizzy water that is sold Ethiopa-wide, called Ambo. WE will share our evening meal with Bishop Luchiesee, the Bishop of the Central Gibe Synod of the Mekane Yesus and spend the evening in Ambo. (Ababaeche Metaferia Hotel)
Monday, May 19
We will spend the day with our water partner, Central Gibe Synod (CGS) of Mekane Yesus, visiting water projects developed in partnership with W2T. W2T has ompleted 20+ projects previously with the CGS team and have 15 new projects underway in the area of Midakeng, about 2 hours from Ambo. (Ababeche Metaferia Hotel)
Tuesday, May 20
Today we will depart early morning form Ambo in order to return to Addis Ababa. The remainder of the day will be open for shopping and sightseeing. We will have a late night departure to return to Dulles International Airport.
Wednesday, May 21
Arrive back in your departure city.
This mission trip is being organized by Water to Thrive. Travelers will be accompanied by Bishop Michael Rinehart of the TX-LA Gulf Coast Synod fo the ELCA, a knowledgable W2T staff person, and the in-country tour director. The trip will provide a first-hand view into the rich Christian heritage of Ethiopia, a country with more Lutherans than the ELCA. We will observe the current-day activities of the Lutheran Church in Ethiopia. In addition, you will witness the transforming effects that the blessing of clean, safe water brings to communities being served by Water to Thrive and its Ethiopian partners.
Estimated cost: $3,500-3,750 pp, double occupancy. The trip is limited to 16 people. Departure from Austin, TX. Other departure cities may slightly vary the cost. The estimated cost includes round trip airfare from the U.S, all in-country flights, all hotels, all land travel, all breakfasts and dinners, and all baggage handling. There is a single room occupant supplemental cost of $475. Hotels have twin bed accommodations. $500 reservation fee to hold your space. $2,000 due by March 1, 2014. Final payment by April 1, 2014.
