I’m at the ELCA Fund for Leaders Event. Jeremy and Amanda are newlyweds. And they’re both students at Luther. Jeremy got a Fund for Leaders award. Amanda got a full ride at Luther.
Jeremy comes from Salem, Brenham. Amanda comes from Gethsemane, Austin. Both went to TLU. (Amanda was a 4.0!) Get this: Jeremy says Greek at Luther is easier than at TLU, with Norm Beck. Both were counselors at Lutherhill.
It’s so exciting to see how our camps and universities are producing leaders!

The ELCA Fund for Leaders was established in 2000 to provide perpetual funds to support seminary scholarships. The goal was $20M in 10 years. Thrivent kicked it off with a $1M grant. Now, in 2010, despite the sank economic setback off late (the fund lost $3M in 2008), the fund stands at $20,299,223.
This year the fund is supporting 187 students, including Jeremy, who received a full-tuition schloarship. In 2001 Pastor Brad Otto (Messiah, Houston) was a fund recipient.
