68-year-old Sol Moccasin is a full-blooded Cherokee, and a Lutheran. He sits in the Danish Lutheran Church at the Oaks (Oklahoma), explaining to Region IV bishops how his grandparents became Lutherans. Sol attended school here from the first grade and then went on to Dana College. The boarding school now has students from eight different Native American nations. There is a waiting list. Sol articulates a theology of inclusivity and grace.

I miss Pastor Sol! If you’re still up there tell him and Jim Squirrel that I say hi. I spent two summers running camp up there and absolutely loved my time there. Amazing place and amazing people!
