Drive in to Waller this morning at VP Evan’s suggestion. Windows rolled down, the sky is hazy and it smells like a campfire. Got turned around twice by Sheriff road blocks.
St. John’s has been housing 20-30 evacuees. So far they have plenty of supplies, so they’ve been sharif and taking lunch to the fire fighters.
They’re running 3-person, 4-hour shifts. Secretary Jane is managing the sign up. So far so good. Pastor Edd Wunderlich says Facebook has been their best source of info, and their congregation’s FB page has been the easiest way to network folks.
Local congregations have helped. A big Baptist Church in the Houston Heights. An LCMS congregation in Cypress. Other ELCA congregations.
Children everywhere, and of course some family pets. St. John’s is on the map in Waller.
