In many respects, it is because of instable governments, lack of capital investment, political corruption, sectarian violence, cronyism, civil war….in parts of Africa and the 3rd world countries, and with no working infrastructure, poor education, no social programs….you get poverty and despair. Of course, when issues like this are mentioned and debated….you will hear the liberal academics pointing to the USA as the culprit. The “blame America” nitwits can’t seem to realize that complex social and economic problems require effort, starting with a stable and effective government. There will always be differences in wealth between nations, weighing factors like form of government, resources available, location……and it is true America has been blessed. But comparing us to Liberia, Kenya, or the Eskimos of Antartica is a old and tired academic exercise. I suppose to America hating liberals…..our success is a bad thing.
