The CIA warned that release of the report on torture yesterday (December 9, 2014) would lead to a violent response. Yesterday security was beefed up at embassies around the world. And… nada.
“I know from personal experience that abuse of prisoners is not a reliable means of getting accurate information.”
— John McCain
The report showed that information leading to the location of Osama bin Laden was obtained prior to “enhanced interrogation.” No critical information was obtained through the 20 cases of torture studied.
Today I’m proud that we have a country that confesses and admits it’s mistakes. Torture is immoral. Period. We did things 10 years ago for which we convicted the Japanese of war crimes after World War II. Transparency is the sign of a healthy government of the people.

I agree that we should never allow torture as a standard operating procedure for enemy prisoners, however, we should have found a more scientific method to extract information from terrorists in order to protect the lives of people whom they seek to kill, and all this in the name of their religion of death. Also we must remember that the vicious killers of ISIS and Hamas employ even worse means of torture. I realize two wrongs do not make it right. Too bad we cannot employ truth serum drugs to induce a prisoner to give away the intelligence information needed to save innocent lives. I am an isolationist politically and do not feel our country should be so involved in the politics of other countries, as it makes us like the colonial British building empires and other cultures of conquest throughout history. When we accuse other countries of being undemocratic, we must remember our own political and economic system is not free of corruption either, and our culture of wickedness in Hollywood exports immorality, profanity, and adverse values to our land and the entire world in the name of entertainment. I love my country, and have served it as a US Marine in war and peace, and I pay my taxes, vote, and support movements like pro-life, oppose same gender marriage, and believe in our Constitution….yet I look at a land now imploding before my eyes….and wonder how long before God will judge us and we will feel His hand of chastisement in a hard way. But I hold to my Christian faith alone, as it is my anchor in a world of turmoil.
