Zion Retreat Center, the only religious retreat center on Galveston Island, is the product of a generous gift from the members of Zion Lutheran Church, Galveston, Texas, to the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod, ELCA.

With the leadership of Pastor Lawrence Bade, a capital campaign and building program paid for the center with no debt. Many donors made this possible.

Lutherhill Camp Director Matt Kindsvatter and staff finishes the space off and have run it efficiently. The space is perpetually full. Pastor Jen Kindsvatter made sure the space was appointed with some historic photos and Scripture passages she painted, for every room.
