Head southwest out of Brenham on Texas 109 and in about 30 minutes of rolling hills you’ll come to new Ulm, Texas. Drive another four miles and you’ll hit Frelsburg, Texas, at the corner of 109 and FM 1291. Trinity Frelsburg and St. John New Ulm have shared a pastor on and off the last few decades.
Frelsburg was founded by Captain William Frels and his brother John in 1837. Frelsburg is home to Heinsohn’s, the longest continuously running general store in Texas (est. 1865).
Worship at Trinity began at 8:30. Most of the congregation has been vaccinated, but quite a few folks are still not back yet. Note the plastic dividers set up in the pews.
I love old cemeteries, so I took a stroll.
After worship and fellowship at Trinity, I embarked on the six-minute commute to St. John New Ulm for their 10:40 service.
