Last year TLU had its highest enrollment ever. This year, new enrollments dipped just a bit. Retention is 65%. They are having steady growth at their nursing program in New Braunfels. 130+. 95% of TLU students receive scholarships and grants.

TLU has been able to maintain mostly in-person classes without any major COVID outbreaks. They had 150-160 cases last academic year, and 245 so far this year (136 of those in January). 14 active today. 89% of faculty and staff are vaccinated.

TLU’s recently-called Campus Pastor, Wes Cain led our opening devotions. Wes’ spouse Jessica is an ELCA pastor in Buda, Texas.

VP for Academic Affairs, Sarah Ferguson shared the incredible progress of the nursing program. The first class was in 2016. 100% passed NCLEX exam.

TLU is now offering an accelerated bachelor’s of science in nursing (ABSN) program for those who already have a bachelors degree in another field but now wish to pursue nursing. It takes one year and a semester. Two cohorts have graduated. 100% pass rate on the NCLEX.

They are soon to embark in an new exploratory program for undergrads to fast track to a masters of science in nursing. They’ve been approved by the Texas Board of Nursing. The first cohort will be this Spring, with 29 students. They’re going slowly, adding one cohort per year. This is a five-semester program. This allows them to access financial aid.

TLU will soon have a nursing program in Houston, Texas. Their site is being built at Beltway 8 and 290 in northwest Houston. You’ll be able to see TLU from the highway.
