A bishop, a priest, and an imam walk into a bar…

Today, Cardinal DiNardo (center), Father Mark Hebert (right), General Presbyter Lynn Hargrove (right), and I met to welcome Methodist Bishop Cynthia Harvey (left) to Houston. No stranger to Houston, Bishop Harvey served Memorial Drive Methodist for many years prior to becoming a bishop in Louisiana. We heard about all the goings-on in the Methodist church, and shared a little bit of our own contexts as well. Tres leches for Lundi Gras. I’m grateful to have such amicable ecumenical colleagues.

Immediately following that meeting, by happenstance I had a meeting with two Muslim friends. Erol (center) is with Harmony Charter Schools. Benjamin Baysal is too. Both are from Türkiye. Benjamin lost 40 family members in the recent earthquakes. Please say a prayer for Benjamin and his family.
